LOVERS’ ROCK

Lovers’ Rock was a gender-inclusive “Bonnie and Clyde” breaking battle held between 2002 and 2013 in locations including San Diego, Philadelphia, and Helsinki. Dubbed “The Flyest Jam on the Planet,” the all-ages event took place on Valentine’s Day weekend and played up this theme with roses and chocolates for the battle winners, a prize for the flyest dressed couple, and lots of slow jams and slow dancing between the battles. The event was co-founded with DJ @Large. A one-off Mother’s Day version also took place in New York City, called Mothers’ Rock, in collaboration with dancer and choreographer MiRi Park.
