FORMS OF FREEDOM

Forms of Freedom: The Art and Design of Black and Indigenous Creative Collectives was a collaborative research project that explored how Black and Indigenous creative collectives evolve to sustain themselves over time. The project was organized by Emery Petchauer and Ruth Nicole Brown, and was funded by the Spencer Foundation. It brought together members of SOLHOT, The Aadizookaan, and The Space Program/Fire in Little Africa. It produced the People’s Sound Studio -- an experiment in collectivism, creativity, being together, and maybe staying together -- in addition to visual, performance, and sonic work freely available on our Bandcamp page. The totality of movement, creativity, and artifacts live in our ensemble, frozen in digital space for your inspiration and exploration.
